Jubilate’ Novum is a regional community choir headquartered in The Cathe Center. This choir is directed by Dr. Anne Armetta and accompanied by Eleanor Coolidge. The choir is comprised of singers from Burlington, Waterford, Lake Geneva and surrounding areas. Rehearsals are conducted on Monday evenings at 7 pm. Jubilate’ Novum is always looking for singers, especially male voices. The choir has very strong soprano and alto sections but is in need of tenors, baritones and basses.
The choir has two seasons. In the fall, preparation is made for a Christmas concert. The spring concert theme changes each year. In 2016, it was an Americana theme and in 2017, it will be a love and flowers theme. Jubilate’ Novum presents two concerts each season, one in Burlington and one in Lake Geneva.
Dr. Armetta has a PHD in music from Northwestern University in Chicago. She has been involved in community choral music most of her life and has sung professionally. Anne is currently employed by the Kenosha School District in their music program. Anne founded the original Jubilate’ Singers in 1996, here in Burlington. That choir sang for 10 years before disbanding. Many of the Jubilate’ Novum singers were members of that original choir.
Eleanor Coolidge has a bachelor’s degree in music from Alverno College in Milwaukee. She has accompanied local choirs and has taught piano and organ for many years. Eleanor is currently the organist/accompanist at Holy Communion Episcopal Church in Lake Geneva. The Jubilate’ Novum board members include Dr. Anne Armetta, Dr. Richard Ellingstad, Maggie Mentel, Joan Baumel and Jean Van Dyke.
